EOS meeting schedule

A focus of this year’s fair is put on the integration of Photonics into the European 7th Framework Programme. In the information session to be held at the Photonics forum, the EU Commission will provide latest information on current and upcoming calls in three areas of relevance for Photonics. Thierry van der Pyl, Head of the newly established European Commission Photonics unit will open the session. The information session addresses scientific and industrial researchers who are planning set up an European research project in Photonics.

On 2nd May, the EOS Executive Committee accepted the membership application from WLT.

The reports and presentations as well as the agenda and the list of attendees are now available at the website of the EU Photonics Unit.

Call 2 of the ICT programme includes research in the area of photonics components and subsystems. The Call is expected to open on 15 May 2007 and to close on 9 October 2007.

To prepare for this Call, an Information Day on Photonics was held in Brussels on April 26th 2007.

The purpose of the prize is to encourage a European dimension in research in pure or applied optics. Any member of the EOS is requested to propose an author of a research paper for the EOS Prize 2007.
