STELLA School 2012
Location:
Faculty of Engineering, Università degli Studi di Pavia, Pavia, Italy
Duration:
18 June 2012 - 29 June 2012 STELLA is an advanced and unique summer school in laser physics and engineering where highly qualified training in experimental techniques is directly delivered in state-of- the-art research laboratories.
The format of the school has been well-established in the previous editions hosted by the Laser Research Center in Vilnius (2007), the FORTH Institute of Electronic Structure and Lasers in Heraklion (2008), the ICFO Institute for Photonic Sciences in Barcelona (2009), and the University of Insubria in Como (2011). The 2012 STELLA school will be hosted by the University of Pavia, a 650-year-old institution where top-level research in the fields of lasers and laser applications is performed by the same local personnel who will cooperate with the teaching staff coming from renowned research institutions.
The school is devoted to Ph.D. and postdoctoral students carrying out experimental research in the fields of laser physics, linear, nonlinear, and quantum optics, as well as in those disciplines or research areas that rely upon an intensive use of laser technologies, such as medicine, biology, biochemistry, environmental protection, remote sensing, material processing, information technology, telecommunication, secure-data transmission, etc.
