Summer School On Plasmonics 2

Location:
Porquerolles Island, Côte d'Azur, France
Duration:
3 October 2011 - 7 October 2011

Plasmonics is an emerging discipline dedicated to the study of light building material provided by the collective oscillation of free electrons in metals like gold or silver. It is the basis of many research projects in physics, biophotonics , chemistry or medicine.
But this discipline is still rarely present in higher education programms and many PhD students and postdocs are involved in ambitious projects without the necessary electromagnetic basis for a proper understanding of the electromagnetic resonance.

The Summer School Of Plasmonics aims to explain at first to a wide audience the underlying concepts of the electromagnetic resonance before addressing in depth the most innovative concepts of this theme.

Ten courses will be provided by international recognized invited lecturers to an attendance limited to 120 participants. Besides the courses, 4 tutorials will be given by researchers of the Fresnel Institute about Mie theory, nanoaperture antennas, non linear plasmonics and transformational optics.
