Rozhdestvensky Optical Society (ROS)

The International voluntary organization «D.S. Rozhdestvensky Optical Society» is a volunteer-based , self-managing, non-commercial international organization. (The international status of society appeared because former Soviet republics now became separate countries and their citizens are still members of ROS.) The ROS was founded in 1990 and is the traditional successor of the Russian Optical Society, which was founded in 1922.

The main goals of ROS are support of development of optical science and technology, education and application of optical methods, in improving optical science and technology in Russia, other CIS countries; attracting and serving members; and contributing to the growth of the global optics and photonics community. The staff quarter of ROS is located in St.Petersburg, Russia.
