EU - Russia - Information and Brokerage Event

21st October 2008 - 23rd October 2008
Moscow, Russia

The Russian Federation has tremendous scientific capital that it is willing to share with the EU. An association of Russia to the 7th European Research Framework Programme (FP 7) is being negotiated between the Russian Ministry of Science and Education and the European Commission which would allow Russian organisations to participate and to receive funding on similar conditions as those applicable to participants from the EU.

An Information and Brokerage event will be organised in Moscow to intensify the future RTD cooperation between Russia and EU in the field of ICT. Information about Russian ICT research priorities will be given, as well as orientations about the EU's ICT Workprogramme in FP7, and upcoming calls for proposals.

Photonics is one of the subjects covered by the brokerage event. Participants from industry, research organisations and universities from both European and Russian sides will have the opportunity to present their organisation, the research interests and the cooperation sought with the other side. 20 speakers from each side (i.e. about 40 speakers in total) will each have a 10 minute slot for this, as well as opportunities for bilateral meetings on all 3 days. Preliminary programme:

  • Information event as plenary:
    21 October 2008, 8.30 am – 6.00 pm
  • Brokerage event for photonics as parallel session covering photonic technologies, components and (sub)systems, organic photonics and other disruptive photonic technologies
    22 October 2008, 8.30 am – 6.30 pm
  • Consultation meetings with EU officials: EU officials will be available to discuss bilaterally any questions related to administrative or technical issues:
