SEDOPTICA Celebrates 40th Anniversary: Past, Present and Future of the Optics in Spain

On 27 November 2008, the Spanish Optical Society SEDOPTICA celebrate their 40th anniversary.  The programme of the event is devoted to the history of the Society and to the perspectives of optics in Spain.

Conference about the history of the Spanish Optical Society. It will be delivered by Prof. Antonio Corróns of the National Research Council; and Prof. Santiago Mar, Professor of Optics at the University of Valladolid and President of the Society from 2002 to 2005.

11:30 - 12:00 Coffee Break

12:00 - 13:30
Round Table about the future of Optics in Spain.

The participants are: :
—Prof. María J. Yzuel, President of the Society from 1990 to 1993, President elect of SPIE and Professor of Optics at the Autonomic University of Barcelona.
—Prof. Ignacio Cirac, Director of the Quantum Optics Max Planck Institute in Garching, Germany.
—Prof. María Luisa Calvo, President of the International Commission for Optics and Professor of Optics at the Complutense University of Madrid.
—Prof. Susana Marcos, Professor of Research at the National Research Council and recipient of the 2007 ICO Prize.
