There has been enormous interest, in recent years, in optical materials that are artifically structured on the micrometre and nanometre scale. Such materials have fascinating optical properties both from a fundamental point of view and with regard to future applications in photonic devices and materials. Current trends point toward a gauge shrinkage to reach the molecular scale making the molecule the yardstick.

Information photonics is an emerging field that includes state-of-the-art methods, devices, models, and applications related to the utilization of optics in information society. The objective of this meeting is to bring together international scientists, researchers, engineers and students to discuss recent developments in the field of information photonics.

The application of advanced optical methods in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology and other Health Care Sciences has been expanding rapidly in the recent years. With an objective to provide a platform to blend scientific knowledge from basic scientists and clinicians, we cordially invite submissions to the tenth Optics Within Life Science (OWLS-10) conference, cosponsored by the International Commission of Optics (ICO).

The AOMD-6 conference will be organised jointly by University of Latvia, two of its institutes-Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) and Institute of Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy (IAPS) and Riga-based International Society of Applied Optics.

The purpose of the proposed Course is to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of fundamental principles and relevant applications connected with the exposure of solids to energetic laser beams. Such issues are important to develop novel materials with a specific control of their properties at the nanometer scale. The field is relatively young and it grew at a high rate in the last ten years, with a research explosion that has spurred worldwide activity.

PHOTONICS PRAGUE 2008 is the triennial conference organized by the Czech and Slovak Society for Photonics (CSSF). It follows the national meeting in Olomouc (1992) and four international conferences at Prague (1995, 1999, 2002 and 2005).
